A paper copy of your music, and a good attitude!
Clothes you are comfortable moving in! Depending on the show, you might want to bring character shoes.
Either taped cardstock, or three hole punched, double-sided and in a binder.
A standard audition cut is 16-32 bars, which roughly translates to 30 seconds – 1 minute.
This can vary from show to show! You are usually dismissed after you finish your time slot, but sometimes there could be a dance call or other reason you’d be asked to stick around for a bit.
A callback is the second round of auditions in which the creative team has people dance, sing, and read from the show. After they have seen what they need at callbacks, they will develop the cast list!
In the performance world, people hear “no” more frequently than they hear “yes.” Introducing yourself to the creative team is valuable, and will open doors for you down the road even if you aren’t cast in the show you auditioned for.
